WHY I LOVE THIS RECIPE

  • Quick and easy: Guava butter is incredibly easy to make, requiring just four simple ingredients: butter, guavas, lemon, and sugar. My favorite way to eat it is on toast.
  • Gourmet gift: If you love gifting homemade treats, this one is perfect for all of your foodie friends because it isn’t something you’ll find in a store. You can also pair it with my homemade guava jam.
  • Versatile: We love this butter on just about all of our breakfast dishes, from pancakes and French toast, to waffles.

INGREDIENTS YOU’LL NEED

Best Tropical Guava Butter Spread
  • Guavas: I used pink guavas from my mom’s tree, but yellow guavas will also work for this recipe as long as they are ripe and somewhat soft.
  • Sugar: My preference is always pure cane sugar, but any granulated sugar will work.
  • Lemon: I use one lemon for this recipe, juice and zest.
  • Butter: Softened, at room temperature.

TIPS, TRICKS, AND SUBSTITUTIONS

  • Seed removal: While some people enjoy the rustic texture of guava butter with seeds, I prefer a smoother consistency. To remove seeds, strain the cooked guava mixture through a fine-mesh sieve.
  • Sweetness: Adjust the sweetness to your preference by adding more or less sugar. You can also use honey, agave, or maple syrup for a natural sweetness.
  • Variations: Experiment with different spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, vanilla, or cloves to add complexity to your guava butter.
