The Best Salsas Mexicanas (Authentic Mexican Salsas Recipes)
Here you’ll find my favorite Mexican salsas recipes to add a little kick to all of your favorite dishes. You can’t go wrong with a classic salsa de molcajete or tomatillo salsa, or a fresh pico de gallo or mango salsa!

This roundup highlights my very favorite salsas Mexicanas ranging in both texture and flavor, from tried and true classics, like my Grandma Lola’s spicy red salsa, to creamy avocado salsa. These recipes are easy to make, and endlessly versatile!
1. Creamy Guacamole Salsa
Guacamole salsa, also known as guacasalsa, is one of the easiest recipes to make because it requires absolutely no cooking. The fresh blend of green ingredients with avocado create a creamy, dreamy salsa that’s perfect on just about anything.

2. Fresh Salsa Bandera (aka Pico de Gallo)
Salsa bandera is a fresh Mexican salsa that gets its name from its green, white, and red ingredients, representative of the country’s flag. Also known as pico de gallo, it is one of the most popular salsas in Mexico. ¡Provecho y viva Mexico!

3. Tangy Tomatillo Salsa with Chile de Arbol and Vinegar
With a few simple ingredients, this tangy tomatillo salsa with vinegar and arbol chile peppers is one of the easiest to make. It’s one of my favorite authentic Mexican salsas to top Tacos de Barbacoa, eggs, chips, and so many other dishes.

4. Yellow Cherry Tomato Salsa
This beautiful yellow cherry tomato salsa combines the sweetness of yellow cherry tomatoes with the spiciness of árbol chile peppers for a salsa that’s delicious on just about everything. It’s a sweet spin on my Tangy Tomatillo Salsa with Chile de Arbol and Vinegar.

5. Spicy Red Salsa with Chile Japones
Chile Japones, or Japanese pepper, has a fascinating history in Mexico. Today it’s a staple in Mexican and Asian cuisines, commonly used in salsas, sauces, condiments, and stir fries. This chile japones salsa is a family favorite. It’s spicy, easy to make, and delicious on my grandma’s ground beef tacos.

6. Salsa de Molcajete (Stone Ground Mexican Salsa)
I learned to make this salsa de molcajete from my great aunt. She learned the recipe from her mother (my great grandmother). It’s made in a molcajete, or Mexican pestle and mortar, which gives this salsa its unique chunky texture and flavor.

7. Salsa de Mango (Mexican Mango Salsa)
The combination of sweet mango and spicy jalapeño in this delicious salsa de mango provides a flavorful complement to tortilla chips, fresh seafood, pork, and chicken dishes.

8. Salsa Verde de Tomatillos
Salsa de tomatillo is a classic among salsas Mexicanas to master. It requires minimal ingredients, is easy to prepare, and packs a flavorful punch! The best part is that you can adjust the spice level and easily make it in large batches.

9. Marinated Chile Güerito Peppers
Not necessarily a salsa, this chile güerito recipe is a version of chiles toreados, but even more addictive. I’ve removed the skin, sliced them into rajas, and marinated them in lime juice and soy sauce. They’re my new favorite spicy snack!

10. Chiles Toreados (Mexican Blistered Peppers)
Chiles toreados are one of my favorite spicy Mexican side dishes – especially when served with tacos! These blistered peppers add the perfect amount of heat and flavor to any meal.

11. Authentic Mexican Tomato Sauce
This Mexican tomato sauce is made with fresh tomatoes, onion, and garlic, and is cooked down into a concentrated base that is essential for classic dishes including sopa de fideo, fideo seco, arroz rojo, creamy tomato pasta, and as a base for albondiga soup and tortilla soup. It’s also the perfect base for so many authentic Mexican salsas recipes!
