Authentic 3 Ingredient Guacamole Recipe
Creamy, fresh, and nutritious, this 3-ingredient guacamole recipe proves that you don’t need a long list of ingredients to make something delicious. This is my go-to guacamole recipe when I make taquitos at home – the kids love it!

I’ve always loved experimenting with different guacamole recipes, but lately I keep coming back to this super simple 3-ingredient guacamole because it’s a reminder that good ingredients can shine when recipes are simplified.

My kids aren’t huge fans of the guacamole I grew up eating made with fresh tomato, onion, cilantro, and a hint of spice from jalapeños. They prefer this version, which keeps things simple, with just a few fresh ingredients that I always have in my kitchen. Recently, my kids have even taken the lead in preparing it and they love absolutely love it with crispy chicken taquitos.
⭐️ FUN FOOD FACTS: Avocados are loaded with heart-healthy fats, fiber, and nutrients that boost brain and skin health. Also, ahuacatl means testicle in Nahuatl, likely due to the avocado’s shape and growth pattern (it grows in pairs).

INGREDIENTS YOU’LL NEED
You’ll need just three ingredients to prepare this homemade guacamole recipe. My recipe card has specific quantities for each ingredient, but feel free to experiment – I like mine with extra lime juice.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
1. Prepare ingredients
- Cut avocados in half, lengthwise and remove the pits (save one because it’s supposed to keep the guacamole from browning).

Mash and mix ingredients
- Scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.

Mash and mix ingredients
- Mash with a fork until smooth or chunky, depending on your preference.
- Add the lime juice and salt.
- Taste and adjust salt or lime juice as needed.

Serve and enjoy immediately
- Serve immediately with homemade chips, tacos, carne asada, or taquitos!

💡PRO TIP: While the avocado pit and lime juice help reduce oxidation, guacamole is best made to-serve to avoid browning.

3 Ingredient Guacamole Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 ½ pounds avocado (about 3 large or 6 small avocados)
- 2 limes
- 1½ teaspoon salt or to taste
Instructions
- Cut avocados in half, lengthwise and remove the pits (save one).
- Spoon out each avocado half and add it to a bowl. Mash with a fork until it is somewhat smooth or roughly chop with a knife if you like your guacamole chunky. Mix in garlic, salt, and lime juice. Taste and adjust for salt, if necessary. Mix one more time and add pit (this helps prevent browning caused by oxidation). Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve. PRO TIP: Guacamole is best made to serve to avoid browning.
- Serve immediately with homemade chips, tacos, or taquitos!
A Note from Lola
A NOTE ON SALT
I only use Diamond Kosher Salt when cooking, which is less salty than other salts. This means that I am able to use more, without over salting my recipes. If you use regular table salt or sea salt, please reduce the amount of salt you use and taste as you cook to avoid over salting!Nutrition
