How to Make Easy Guacamole (No Tomato, 4 Ingredients)
This easy guacamole recipe with no tomato is delicious, nutritious, and comes to gather in about five minutes! We love it with homemade chips, tacos, and taquitos.
I love experimenting with new guacamole recipes and have even taught a workshop where students learned to make three different versions of this classic Mexican appetizer. I even learned this slightly spicy, blended version from my cousin from Mexico.
While the recipe I grew up making incorporates the main ingredients found in pico de gallo (tomato, cilantro, onion, and chile), I find myself making this easy guacamole recipe with no tomato more often because I always have the ingredients on hand and it’s so simple to prepare that I’m able to delegate it the kids. They feel a sense of pride knowing that everyone loves their guacamole, too.
FUN FOOD FACTS
- Avocados are loaded with heart-healthy fats, fiber, and nutrients that boost brain and skin health.
- Ahuacatl means testicle in Nahuatl, likely due to the avocado’s shape and growth pattern (it grows in pairs).
INGREDIENTS YOU’LL NEED
You’ll need just four of ingredients to prepare this homemade guacamole recipe. My recipe card has specific quantities for each ingredient, but feel free to experiment – sometimes I leave out the garlic, or add extra lime juice.
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
1. Prepare ingredients
- Cut avocados in half, lengthwise and remove the pits (save one).
- Mince garlic. A garlic press is great for this step, but a knife works just fine, too.
3. Mash and mix ingredients
- Spoon out each avocado half and add it to a bowl. Mash with a fork until it is somewhat smooth or roughly chop with a knife if you like your guacamole chunky.
- Mix in garlic, salt, and lime juice. Taste and adjust for salt, if necessary.
- Mix one more time and add pit (this helps prevent browning caused by oxidation). Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
3. Serve and enjoy
- Serve immediately with homemade chips, tacos, or taquitos!
PRO TIP: While the avocado pit and lime juice help reduce oxidation, guacamole is best made to serve to avoid browning.

You can always squeeze citrus fruit by hand, but I prefer using a handheld citrus press – especially for limes. VIEW PRODUCT
