Classes in Morelia

Zirita Taller de Experiencias Culinarias, Cynthia Martinez
Zirita is a cooking school located about 20 minutes outside of downtown Morelia and classes last approximately 6.5 hours (including pick-up and drop-off) and cost between $100 and $120 USD. Classes are led by Cynthia, a local chef and owner of San Miguelito Restaurant, or by some of Morelia’s best traditional cooks. They include a local market tour, tastings of local products, interactive instruction, written recipes, unlimited drinks (non-alcoholic), and two alcoholic beverages.

Highlights:

  • The main objective of this cooking school is to promote Mexican cuisine while at the same time, providing a steady income for the traditional cooks in Morelia by showcasing their unique culinary talents
  • The spacious cooking school has everything from modern appliances to outdoor ovens and pits…it is decorated impeccably with Mexican folk art from top to bottom
  • Cynthia thought about everything when constructing this school – if class participants have young children, there is plenty of outdoor space and a large tree house to keep them in busy while the cooking class is conducted

  • Hi,

I’m very interested in taking the cooking classes. I’ll be visiting Amorelia in April 24th- May 1st. I hoping I can take your class while I visit.

    • Hi, Gabriela. I actually took this class while in Morelia (I teach out of Denver, CO). Chef Cynthia Martinez is the one who teaches these classes out of Morelia and you can contact her directly to set up a class. Her number is +52 1 443 103 9659.

  • Hola, We will be visiting Morelia in November 2022 and would like to find out if there are day experiences that we could do. Gracias, Kate and Jeff
