How to Make Salsa de Mango (Mexican Mango Salsa)
The combination of sweet mango and spicy jalapeño in this delicious salsa de mango provides a flavorful complement to tortilla chips, fresh seafood, pork, and chicken dishes.

I first tasted this mango salsa over 30 years ago when my mother paired it with her famous honey-glazed salmon. It was refreshing in both concept and taste! We love it on fish tacos, alongside garlic shrimp, or on top of homemade corn tortilla chips. This is just one of many mango-inspired recipes I’ve made throughout the years and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
FUN FOOD FACT: Aside from being delicious, mango salsa is also packed with vitamins, (especially vitamin C from the mango, orange, and jalapeños), antioxidants, and fiber.
INGREDIENTS YOU’LL NEED
You’ll be working with all fresh ingredients, which include mangoes (I prefer ataúlfo or manila mangos), jalapeños (or serrano peppers for more heat), red onion, cilantro, orange juice, vinegar, and salt.
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
1. Chop
- Dice mangoes, onion, and cilantro.
2. Mix
- Mix ingredients in a bowl and then season with vinegar, orange juice, and salt.
- Toss once again and taste. Adjust for salt if necessary.
3. Enjoy
- Cover and chill until ready to serve. While delicious when freshly made, the flavors of salsa de mango meld and deepen even more after sitting in the refrigerator for about 10-15 minutes.
HOW TO STORE
Homemade mango salsa is best enjoyed fresh, but will typically last 3-4 days in an airtight container in the refrigerator. I like storing mine in a glass dish with a lid because plastic containers tend to absorb odors.

You may remove the veins and seeds from the jalapeño or serrano chile peppers to reduce the heat level of your salsa. I leave them in though because I love the sweet and spicy combination and the mango tends to balance out the spiciness.Nutrition
